EU approves SAA talks with Bosnia ISN SECURITY WATCH (Monday, 21 November: 16.24 CET) - The EU on Monday agreed to begin Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first step towards EU membership for Western Balkan countries. The SAA talks are likely to start before mid-December and come a decade after the end of the 1992-1995 war. EU foreign ministers said the talks would take as long as Bosnia took to make clear progress on domestic reforms and to demonstrate its commitment to fully cooperating with the UN’s Hague-based International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). |
