President Mesic vs. VECERNJI LIST
FERAL TRIBUNE

A 'silent war' has reportedly been going on for months between President Mesic and the new editorial board of VECERNJI LIST, headed by Miljenko Manjkas.

According to FERAL TRIBUNE, the 'war' has now crossed Croatian borders, because the President's Office has sent copies of a number of releases, originally sent to VECERNJI but ignored by the editorial staff, to the paper’s Austrian owner Styria. The releases were reactions to reports published in the paper that the President and/or his staff found objectionable.

Reportedly, the message reached the target. Manjkas has received urgent instructions from Austria to offer an extensive and exclusive interview to the President to make up for the recent disregard. This was duly obeyed, but it seems that Mesic refuses to grant the interview.
