Two mass graves uncovered in Bosnia in a single month

Forensic scientists last Monday began exhuming bodies from the latest mass grave found in Bosnia, a spokesman for the Commission on Missing Persons said.

The grave at Snagovo may hold the bodies of around thirty people.

The victims are thought to have been killed in Srebrenica by Bosnian Serb troops during the 1992-1995 civil war in Bosnia. They were originally buried elsewhere, but were later reburied by Bosnian Serb troops attempting to cover their tracks, Murat Hurtic said.

Earlier in October scientists exhumed the bodies of almost 500 Srebrenica victims from another grave in the neighbouring village of Liplje. A total of 474 incomplete and eight complete bodies were discovered there, Hurtic said.

Bosnian Serb troops massacred between 7,000 to 9,000 Bosnian Muslim men after Dutch peacekeepers allowed encircling Serb forces to take control of Srebrenica on July 11, 1995.
